seimi baby collection

Ever since starting our blog, we have been dying to post about one of our favourite children’s furniture collections, the Finnish seimi baby collection.  Brainchild of designers Meri & Olli, as well as Meri’s parents, interior designers Leena and Hannu Peltonen, the collection was launched in 2002, following the birth of Meri and Olli’s daughter – something of a similar story to ninetonine!

Since then, they have gone from strength to strength, and now sell their collection across Europe and the States.

Their essentially Scandinavian aesthetic make for wonderfully fresh, simple and versatile designs, at home in any modern nursery and home.  Particular favourites are their Rinkie highchair, and Seimi bassinet: understated yet elegant, these two pieces that have entered without question into our ‘modern classics’ file!

The highchair is suitable for babies from 6 months old, adding the clever baby kit.  Made of solid birch, available in a variety of colours and eminently easy to clean (tried and tested, believe us!), as well as safety tested, you can carry on using the Rinkie even past the highchair stage, as a great stool, perfectly at home in your kitchen for years to come.  Our three year old adores her rinkie – to the degree that she won’t give it up to let her little 7-month old sister use it!

The Seimi bassinet is an absolute gem: also available in a number of finishes, and made from the best quality wood and woven yarn, we cannot imagine a better place for your new baby to sleep. Larger than the typical Moses basket, you will be able to make the most of it for just that bit longer before making the transition into a cot or crib.  Easy to disassemble and store, we are quite sure you’ll keep it for any future little ones, or indeed, for grandchildren!

Have a look at their website for more information – and watch this, space, we hope to have them on our site for sale soon!
