We want to introduce a new feature on our blog for our readers out there! Blogs We’re Reading is something we hope to update every week, to let our readers know about different blogs out there and what has been catching our attention week-to-week. These blogs could be about anything – from design, kids, furniture, clothes, food, books…whatever!! We hope you enjoy reading this as much as we enjoy writing (and surfing the net!!)!

BLOESEM KIDS

Why we love BLOESEM:

Bloesem Kids is a great place to read about DIY crafts, books and different products, and totally inspiring mom stories! Another plus is they have amazing giveaways!!

What we’re reading:

This week we’re totally obsessed with the Nomuu cards they’re GIVING AWAY.

All you have to do to be eligible to win is go to the post and enter a comment saying what word best describes Nomuu illustrations, and you have the chance to win! The giveaway is only open until Feb 29, so hurry up and comment (we already did!!)!

FINE LITTLE DAY

Why we love Fine Little Day:

Fine Little Day is a really sweet blog written by Elisabeth Dunker, who lives in Sweden. She posts a lot about design, art and things she finds creative or expressive. Her appreciation for life and art makes us appreciate it all the more!

What we’re reading:

First of all, we HAVE to mention ‘Fettisdagen’ (Fat Day) in Sweden. Her photo of bread buns with whipped cream and almond paste made us drool on our work desks.

Did any of you give up anything for Lent? I gave up pastries…and already I’m deeply regretting it.

Second of all, these throw pillows she posted about are seriously amazing. Sometimes a little black and white can do wonders for a room!

Also, there is going to be an Open House ‘Pop Up Shop’ from March 14-15, so if you live in Sweden be sure to check it out!

DESIGNING IDOLS

Why we love Designing Idols:

Designing Idols is a blog in Spanish written by Carmen Rodriguez. Not only does she keep us up to date with the latest trends in fashion, but she also posts about a lot of really fun shops, products and designer pieces. She’s even featured some of our furniture in a few posts! Basically its a really cool blog to go and have a look at!

What we’re reading:

Carmen recently did a post about the fashion house Marni doing a collection for H&M. Several designers have done this before, such as Roberto Cavalli and Jimmy Choo, which has had really great results for H&M! This is such a great option to get really sweet clothes at a good price!!

And of course, the celebrities came out to show their support (and get a photo taken!).

Here you have Mila Jovovich wearing some Marni for H&M accessories.

For those of you who live in Madrid and want to know where to find the stores that offer this collection, check out her BLOG!

We’ve completed our lookbook and are so excited to be able to share it with you!!

We hope that by combining our own furniture with other great pieces, we can give parents some great ideas on how to decorate and design their child’s room.

Here are a few pages from the lookbook:

We hope that this lookbook, as well as our interior design service, can help parents to imagine the whole feel of the room!

We are also currently working on our online interior design assessment tool for those parents who live outside of Spain. We are planning on having 3 different levels of design assessment available for clients.

More information will be available shortly.

For more information regarding our lookbook or interior design service, please contact us!

Hello everyone!! We know we’ve been horrible at updating our blog in this new year, but its only because we’ve been SUPER busy coming up with great new concepts and ideas!!

Here is a sneak peak at some stuff we’ve been working on:

We’ve been working hard on these new storyboard ideas!

As a new parent buying furniture for a baby, choosing the furniture is one thing, but imagining how it will look in the room is a totally different problem. We’re trying our best to help new parents out by giving them a few ideas and a few of our suggestions.

Hopefully soon we’ll have the storyboards finished, rooms with perspective, and personal consultations ready to go!!

Keep checking this blog, our Facebook and our Twitter for more updates…or contact us if you’d like to see some storyboards, or have us make some for you!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Years from all of us here at ninetonine!

We believe that Christmas is all about giving, whenever possible and wherever possible. And so, in the spirit of Christmas, we’ve decided to plant ten extra Christmas trees in the name of all of our clients, via Tree Nation.

We hope that you all have a very special holiday with your friends and family!

Merry Christmas and Feliz Navidad!

The great thing about Christmas is that all countries and cultures have different ways of celebrating it! There is no standard way to celebrate Christmas, and the possibilites are endless!

From traditional Christmas decorations to modern and quirky ideas, Christmas is definitely a time to be creative and imaginative.

Here we present to you Christmas Around the World…a quick look at how different places celebrate Christmas.

Christmas in JAPAN:

Christmas is not a national holiday in Japan, but Christmas traditions have become very popular in the last few years!

The traditional Japanese Christmas food is the Christmas cake, usually made of sponge cake, strawberries and whipped cream. Traditionally, the father of the family buys this cake on his way home from work on the night of the 24th.

In recent years, Christmas dinner has traditionally come to be a KFC dinner! KFC Japan´s Christmas marketing campaign has come to be a staple, and many Japanese families believe that Westerners enjoy a KFC meal for Christmas dinner as well!

Christmas in BRAZIL:

In Brazil, Papai Noel comes all the way from Greenland to bring the children presents, wearing silk clothing due to the summer heat!

Christmas dinner normally includes ham, turkey, colored rice, vegetables and fruit.

People deocrate their homes with nativity scenes, or presépio, and fresh flowers from the garden. It is normal to have fireworks in the skies and huge ‘Christmas trees’ of electric lights in the big cities, such as Rio de Janeiro or Sao Paolo.

Christmas in RUSSIA:

In Russia, Christmas is usually celebrated on January 7th. Some people fast on Christmas Eve and don’t eat until the first star has appeared in the sky.

The New Years celebration is sometimes considered more important than Christmas. This is when ‘Father Frost’ comes to bring presents to children. He is always accompanied by his Granddaughter.

Christmas in SPAIN:

During Christmas, most people in Spain go to midnight mass on the evening of the 24th.

December 28th is the ‘Dia de los Inocentes’, which is very much like April Fool’s day in the UK or the USA.

On New Year’s Eve, or Nochevieja, it is tradition to eat 12 grapes with each chime of the clock.

Instead of opening presents on Christmas day, it is tradition to open them on January 6, or ‘Fiesta de los Tres Reyes Mages’ (The three Kings). The Three Kings bring the children presents, and the night before, children leave out a glass of cognac for each king and some water for the camels. In Madrid, they hold a parade for the Three Kings.

Christmas in the PHILIPPINES:

Christmas is the most important holiday in the Philippines. Filipinos celebrate with a mixture of Western traditions (American, English, Spanish), but retain many old Filipino traditions as well.

On the night of the 24th, it is traditional to attend a midnight mass, followed by a midnight feast, called Noche Buena (like in Spain).

It is normal to decorate with Christmas trees, Christmas lights, and figurines of Santa Claus, because he brings presents to the children on Christmas day. However, the most popular Filipino Christmas decorations are ‘parols’, lighted star lanters that can be seen everywhere during the holiday season.

Christmas in JAMAICA:

Jamaicans consider Christmas to be a very special time, and play Christmas carols on the radio throughout the season.

Many people paint their houses and hang new curtains and decorations up.

Jamaican red wine and rum fruitcake is traditional and eaten in most homes. The fruits are soaked in rum and red wine for months before Christmas!

Do you have any countries you would like to add? Post in the comments below your own Christmas traditions!!
